Public buildings across the region to be lit in Ukrainian colours this weekend

Public buildings across Cavan and Monaghan will be lit up in the Ukrainian colours in a show of solidarity this weekend.

Carrickmacross Library and Civic Offices is all set for the gesture.

It follows a motion raised by Cathaoirleach of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD, PJ O'Hanlon.

He told the recent meeting that it was important to "recognise what is happening in Ukraine".

Councillor O'Hanlon said he can't get his head around the conflict.

The councillor also led a moment of silence for those who have lost their life in the conflict so far, during the meeting.

Elsewhere in the Northern Sound region, Courthouse Cavan will be lit up blue and yellow this weekend too.
