Work on a record number of new homes in Cavan in the first four months of 2024. There were 313 new home commencements in Cavan, while in Monaghan work began on 128 new homes in Monaghan for the same period.
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has published its monthly data on the number of Commencement Notices for April 2024. Last month, 87 new homes were started in County Monaghan and 268 in County Cavan.
Describing the figure for Cavan as "record-breaking" Minister for Housing, Darragh O'Brien, said: "April's numbers for Cavan are not only hugely impressive but life-changing for the many new residents who will benefit" from the complete projects. Nationally, the number of house commencements this year up to January stands at over 30,000 which is up 204 per cent on the same time last year.
