Rent prices across the region jump by more than 12 percent when compared to 2020

The latest Daft.ie housing report shows that locations outside the capital have seen the biggest jump.

Rent prices across the Northern Sound region have jumped by more than 12 percent in the second quarter of 2021, when compared to the same time last year.

A new housing report from property website Daft.ie shows that rents in Cavan and Monaghan have seen significant increases when compared to the same period in 2020.

A focus on working from home, change in employment status and housing supply has seen a renewed interest in property in rural Ireland.

Monaghan currently has the highest average rent in the Northern Sound region at €886 per month, an increase of 12.8 percent.

That's followed closely by Cavan, which saw an increase of 13.8 percent at €855 per month.

Ronan Lyons, economist at Trinity College Dublin and author of the Daft report, says locations outside Dublin have seen the biggest jump:
