Some residents at a Carrickmacross Emergency Direct Provision Centre are self-isolating after positive Covid-19 tests.

Shannonside Northern Sound News understands a positive case was reported at Lisanisk House Hotel as part of the HSE's regular testing at accommodation centres, which resulted in the individual and their close contacts self-isolating.

Residents at the hotel are housed in groups in self-catering apartments.

As part of the HSE testing regime one person tested positive.

Subsequently, some of their close-contacts later tested positive, but it's understood it was contained within their apartment and it didn't spread to residents in other parts of the centre.

Over the weekend, Hot Press Magazine reported that some residents in Carrickmacross have appealed to the HSE to move them out in the interest of public health.

The Department of Justice says it doesn't comment on specific incidents, but that it has a policy in place to protect the health and wellbeing of Direct Provision residents during the pandemic.

Shannonside Northern Sound has contacted a spokesperson for Lisanisk House Hotel for a statement.
