Local senator Robbie Gallagher has raised the issue of restored payments for community pharmacies with the Minister for Health yesterday afternoon in the Seanad.
Wages for employees at community pharmacies haven't been restored since cuts were made 15 years ago.
Senator Gallagher says that the Public Pay and Pensions Act legislation regarding the Community Pharmacy sector and its future is being put at risk.
The Monaghan Senator says we all know how important pharmacies are especially across this region.
He says bringing the issue to the Minister yesterday was needed due to pharmacies saying that the past 12 months have been very difficult on them financially.
Senator Gallagher says a number of local pharmacies have contacted them over this issue.
