Schools and services impacted locally due to snow

A number of weather warnings are in place for rain and snow across Cavan and Monaghan.

A yellow snow and ice alert for  Cavan and Monaghan has resulted in a number of services unable to operate this morning. Met Éireann says there's the potential for icy stretches on untreated roads and poor visibility this morning. Meanwhile, All Bus Éireann services are currently suspended out of Cavan Bus Station due to heavy snow in the area, these include routes 109X to Dublin, 466 to Athlone & 170 to Dundalk.

The following schools are also closed today due to the snow; St Felim's NS in Cavan Town, St Claire's College, Ballyjamesduff and the mart in Cavan Town is also closed today. The centre for the elderly in Virginia is not open today, Leydons coaches in Swanlinbar will not be travelling today and North pole fuels will not be delivering in Ballinagh nor further afield today.
