Parents and children were able to participate in shared education workshops and activities leading to improved relationships with other parents/carers across the community divisions.

The 'Sharing From The Start' project has benefited young children and their families across Cavan and Monaghan.

That's according to Annette Coyle, who is Service Manager of 'Krafty Kidz' Community Childcare based in Ballyconnell.

The shared education programme is focused towards pre-school children in border counties who are from different religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Annette said she was “thankful” to the Peace Programme which funded the project, and stated that Krafty Kidz in Ballyconnell was one of the first pre-schools to be funded under the initial peace funding back in 1997.

While the local service will celebrate 25 years this October, Annette said the recent ‘Sharing From The Start’ project provided positive outcomes "across the board" particularly in relation to improving the confidence and self-esteem of young people.

The  €4.2 million 'Sharing From The Start' project has marked the successful delivery of the programme as it now draws to a close.
