The Northern Sound region has seen a slight increase in the number of new cars registered.
That's according to figures released today by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry.
New car sales across Ireland increased by 3.4% year on year, from 112,229 in 2024 to 116,099 in 2025. New figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show Cavan registered 1,172 new cars between January and August, up slightly on last year.
In Monaghan, 937 new cars were registered so far this year, a minor increase from the 927 in the same period in 2024. Electric car sales saw a major boost nationally.
Cavan recorded 120 new electric cars so far this year, compared to 70 last year. In Monaghan, 114 new EVs were registered between January and August, almost double the 60 recorded in the same time in 2024.
Nationally, new electric car sales are up 37% year on year, with 20,656 registered to date this year.
