Smoke alarms available locally for vulnerable people

Cavan chief fire officer Noel O Reilly says this initiative is aimed at older people living in older homes and people with disabilities.

Cavan County Council is making a number of smoke alarms available to vulnerable older people and people with disabilities living in County Cavan.
Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis with priority given to those aged over 80 and people with disabilities.

Cavan chief fire officer Noel O Reilly says this initiative is aimed at older people living in older homes and people with disabilities. He says for a minimal price, smoke alarms can save lives so it's so important for all homes to have smoke alarms installed throughout your home.

Noel says a smoke alarm allows you time to evacuate from in the event of a fire.  If you are interested in applying for these free alarms, application forms are available by calling Cavan County Council offices on 049 4378581, by email at [email protected], or by calling into your local library.
