'This will impact the local community, people’s health, farming, and wildlife in the area'

The Drumgossatt/Knocknacran Residents Group is holding an action day against mining at the site of a proposed open cast mine development at Magheracloone, at 3pm tomorrow, Saturday.

Bernie Collins is the chairperson of the group and she told Shannonside Northern Sound this week that nobody wants a mine in the area.

She also highlighted how fearful people now are for their health and wellbeing if the development gets the green light from Monaghan County Council where a planning application has been lodged.

Bernie said she hopes the event will help to create awareness around the impact the mine will have on the local community, people’s health, farming, and wildlife in the area.

She also hopes that people will come out and support the cause.
