The support of St.Christopher's Hospice allows people to be family and not carers to their loved ones.

That is the message from Adrian Donohue, whose Dad Paddy was a patient in the Cavan hospice following his diagnosis in 2014 at the age of 86.

This comes as the Shannonside Northern Sound's 'Let's Do It For Hospice' appeal reaches its final weekend of fundraising with over €150,000 euro already raised for four hospices across the region.

Adrian said the care his father received allowed him to feel secure in his final  days, and retain his dignity and 'strong character'.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound he explained that a heavy burden was lifted from the family because of St.Christopher's:
