Farmers have gone out of business because they cannot produce the eggs at the price the consumer wants them and the price they are getting.

The Agriculture Minister was called on to speak to the retailers and get commitments to end the practice of below-cost selling of produce.

He also says that farmers deserve a bit more respect from supermarkets.

Supermarkets will have to lower their margin or up their prices, as the cost of on-farm commodities increases.
