The Cavan rep for St Vincent de Paul has warned that cost of living increases are becoming a "huge difficulty for parents".
Fuel and energy costs have been increasing, and the price of a loaf of bread is also set to increase by around 40 cent.
Madeline Uí Mhealóid says school holidays and weekends are particularly tough for some parents, because children are at home for longer and more food and heating is needed.
