The Hollinger family and Creevagh prefix are hugely well known throughout the Irish Sport Horse industry.

The community of Ballybay in Co Monaghan and the wider Irish horse industry has been left devastated following the tragic deaths of Ronnie and Jean Hollinger.

The husband and wife who are aged in their 60s were pronounced dead at the scene on the N2 at Mullaghanee, following a fatal road traffic collision outside Castleblayney on Thursday evening.

A passenger in the second car - a woman also aged in her 60s - was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where her condition is being described as critical.

Horse sport Ireland has paid tribute to the popular local couple saying they were deeply shocked and saddened to learn of Ronnie and Jean who operated Creevagh House Stud in Ballybay.

The Hollinger family and Creevagh prefix are hugely well known throughout the Irish Sport Horse industry and they said their thoughts are with their family and many friends at this difficult time.
