There's hope a new leisure centre could be built in Virginia

The latest phase of the lakeshore amenity area at Lough Ramor opened yesterday.

There are hopes a new leisure centre could be built in Virginia.

Minister Heather Humphreys yesterday opened the latest phase of the lakeshore amenity area at Lough Ramor.

It includes new exercise equipment and public spaces and is the latest phase of the ongoing project.

Work is also ongoing on the new Civic Centre at the Ramor Theatre which will house the town library and the new car park.

Patrick Farrelly, Chair of the Virginia Development Association and acting Chair of the Town Team says it's great to see the hard work put in by the local community coming to fruition.

But he said they're already looking forward to their next projects and are hopeful a leisure centre could be on the cards:
