Three Monaghan women are on the first Strongwoman Ireland Committee.
The committee was formed with the aim of achieving more funding and sponsorship for women in the sport, similar to the support already seen for male athletes.
In recent months the sport has grown in the region and of the six members, three are Monaghan athletes; Brónach Maguire, Sharon Williamson, and Maria Smyth.

Speaking about competing in World's, Sharon, the website PR Officer, said men tend to get sponsored more easily and they'd like that for female participants:
