Two Derry teenagers drown in 'tragic incident'

'A third teenage boy was also taken from the water and hospitalised for non-life threatening injuries'

Two teenagers have died in a drowning incident in Derry.

The PSNI says two 16 year old boys were recovered from the water at Lough Enagh in the Temple Road area of Derry at around 6.30 yesterday evening after reports of a number of people in difficulty.

One of the boys was transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the body of the second was taken from the water and he was declared dead at the scene.

A third teenage boy was also taken from the water and hospitalised for non-life threatening injuries, while three other friends who were at the scene were treated for shock.

The PSNI says its treating it as a 'tragic drowning incident'.
