Two men have been remanded in custody following a burglary in Virginia yesterday.

Both men aged in their 30's, along with a woman in her 40's, were arrested on Wednesday following a break in at a residence in Lisgrey.

Shortly after 5am on Wednesday morning Gardaí responded to an alert from a personal pendant alarm after a break in at a house in Lisgrey, Virginia Co.Cavan.

On arrival Gardaí arrested a woman at the scene, and after a chase during which a quad was stolen, two men were arrested and all three were held at Bailieborough Garda Station.

This afternoon Stephen Bollard, age 39, from Ballymun and John Dunne, age 31, from Hardwicke Street appeared before Cavan District Court.

Both men were charged in connection with a number of burglaries, criminal damage, unauthorised taking of a vehicle, trespassing offences, and attempted taking or interference with vehicles.

The two men were remanded in custody to Castlerea prison for a further court appearance next week.

The woman who was also arrested was released without charge, with a file being prepared for the DPP.

However, she was later rearrested in Dublin in relation to a separate incident and on the back of an outstanding warrant and will appear before the Dublin Circuit Court.
