Two men suspected of carrying out an aggravated burglary in Castleblayney have appeared in Court in the North.
They were arrested in the Cullaville area of south Armagh early yesterday morning on suspicious of committing a number of offences.
At around 12.30 on Monday morning, two men entered a house in Castleblayney town and were said to have put the homeowners in fear with a weapon.
They then took a car from the property and made their escape towards the border, where Gardaí say they were apprehended by police.
While carrying out a routine patrol at around 1am, PSNI came across two men attempting to change a tyre on a southern registered Skoda Yeti in the Cullaville area.
The pair smelled of alcohol and the driver failed a subsequent road side breath test.
Cross border enquires found that he was disqualified from driving.
Gardai also confirmed to the PSNI that the car had been hijacked earlier by men matching the description of the two.
The men, ages 36 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including driving while intoxicated, while disqualified, being in possession of an offensive weapon, handling property stolen in the Republic, and being equipped for theft.
A PSNI spokesperson said the pair were charged with the above offences and appeared before Newry Magistrates Court earlier today.
