Planning permission has been approved for works to upgrade the Virginia Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The plant is located off the N3 in the townland of Rathardum and the Terminal Pumping Station is situated off New Street in the town. Irish Water got the green light for the development which will consist of major upgrade works to the existing terminal pumping station site and waste water treatment plant site.
A Natura Impact Statement was submitted to the planning authority with the application. Cavan County Council gave the go-ahead for the upgrade with 19 conditions attached.
