Vicious killer Pearse McAuley dies

The convicted Garda killer served just over seven years for the savage knife assault on the local TD.

Garda killer and wife beater Pearse McAuley has died.

Mr McAuley’s death comes after he walked free from prison two years ago having served time for a brutal attack on Cavan Monaghan Sinn Fein TD and ex-wife Pauline Tully.

The convicted Garda killer served just over seven years for the savage knife assault on the local TD  at her Cavan home on Christmas Eve in 2014 when their two young children were in the house.
In 1999 McAuley was convicted of manslaughter in Dublin's Special Criminal Court for his role in the killing of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe in the course of an armed robbery and was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his involvement.
It’s understood the former Provisional IRA member was found dead earlier today in Strabane at the age of 59.
