A Co Cavan man has been killed in a workplace accident in Northern Ireland.
The Health and Safety Executive NI confirmed to Northern Sound today that Virginia native Darren O’Dwyer was tragically killed on Tuesday while at work in Gilford, Co Down.

The wider east Cavan community is said to be shocked and saddened after the sad news was confirmed locally.
Tributes have been paid to the popular man who has been described as a true gentleman.
Darren was the current Irish Sidecar Champion.

In a statement online, The Irish Sidecar Club said Darren was a former Ulster Champion, reigning Mondello masters and National champion, adding that he had been racing sidecars successfully for a number of years.

In another tribute online, a friend said Darren was one of life's real gentlemen both on and off race track.
