Work on the Peace Campus in Monaghan will be impacted by Level 5 restrictions.
Work began on the development back in July, however, the cessation of non-essential construction work under current guidelines will have implications on the project.
The €14.5 million project is being built on the junction off Glaslough Street and the North Road, in a premises that was previously owned by Monaghan County Council.
Felix O’Hare builders from Newry were chosen as the contractor, with the executive recently assuring councillors that Southern suppliers were also being used for the project.
At this month’s council meeting, Sinn Fein’s Noel Keelan asked were there serious implications on construction projects locally due to the pandemic.
It was confirmed by the executive that Level 5 would have time and cost implications on their projects, including the Peace Campus.
The project was not considered ‘critical infrastructure’ by the Government and therefore the 21 month completion time would be pushed back.
Members were told that those on the Peace Campus steering committee would be updated in due course and the group was still active.
Councillor Aoife McCooey also asked for an update on the possibility of placing mental health services in the facility, however, no engagement has happened between the council and the HSE at present.
It is expected that this meeting will happen early this year.
