A status yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for counties Cavan and Monaghan today.
A Status Yellow thunderstorm advisory is in place for some counties and will be extended from 9 o’clock this morning.
Met Eireann is warning of hazardous conditions and flash flooding in parts of the country due to intense thunderstorms.
Intense lighting strikes struck in parts of the North-West last night, with a number of homes and businesses without power in Donegal, North Sligo and parts of Munster this morning.
A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place for all of Connacht and Sligo until 9 o’clock this morning.
After that a further one comes into effect covering more ground – with counties Monaghan and Cavan also included.
Met Eireann says people should expect localised flooding, hail damage, gusty winds and some difficult travelling conditions.
Across the rest of the country, the national yellow high temperature warning remains in place for the rest of the day.
