'The truth must come out' over Monaghan bombing. Cavan-Monaghan TD Brendan Smith highlighted his disappointment over the British Government's lack of concern when it comes finding answers for those who lost loved ones in the Dublin-Monaghan bombings.
Today marks 51 years since the local region experienced one of the worst atrocities of The Troubles.
Deputy Smith says the British Government and the Northern Ireland authorities have "never" supported a comprehensive investigation; in relation to this heinous crime.
Back in 2008, the then government, including representatives like Deputy Smith, put a motion before Dail Eireann. Indeed, the motion called on the British Government to give access to all papers and files linked to the Dublin Monaghan Bombings.
Moreover, Deputy Smith says this is the fourth time for this action. Unfortunately, the British Government has "not responded in any meaningful way to those requests."
