Niall Speak from Strabane, Co. Tyrone and what it was like growing up during the Troubles. He gave a glimpse of his hometown where fishing and football was very popular, and what it was like when bombs and armies were a common sight, and pointing at helicopters was prohibited. Niall believes that Strabane may be known to be rough and socially deprived, but for him “it is the people make the place”. Its music and architecture are worth seeing, and the people in Strabane are very friendly, caring and will genuinely reach out and help and protect you no matter what. A football enthusiast and former DJ, Niall has traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand, and Hong King, and is now working in community development at Leitrim, his home for 8 years, and will soon get married to her fiancé from Donegal.
