During Friday's panel on the Joe Finnegan Show, as the countdown to the possible presidential election continues, Fine Gael senator Maura Hopkins claimed no president should hold the position for 14 years and suggested MEP Mairéad McGuinness replaces Michael D Higgins in the Phoenix Park.
Cavan-Monaghan TD Brendan Smith doesn't think it was right for his party, Fianna Fáil, to back President Higgins so quickly.
