Clones ecologist explains Ireland's biodiversity crisis

Environmental campaigners have accused the government of 30 years of inaction.

The Irish Wildlife Trust and Extinction Rebellion held a protest at Dublin Castle on Wednesday, ahead of a Biodiversity Conference.

They demanded legal protection for Ireland's biodiversity, and don't believe an action plan is enough to ensure change.

It’s believed over 100 species of wildlife have already become extinct in Ireland.

Billy Flynn is an Ecologist from Clones, Co Monaghan and a member of the IWT Monaghan branch. He spoke to Aaron McElroy on The Wider View and started by explaining how serious the biodiversity crisis is.
