Monthly figures released from the INMO's trolley watch have shown the majority of hospitals across the region saw an increase in the number of patients.
Cavan General Hospital saw a 900% increase in the number of patients waiting. There were 16 patients on trolleys or chairs at the hospital in June 2018, but this has risen significantly to 161 patients in June this year.
Deputy Chief Secretary of the INMO Dave Hughes has said that the trolley crisis is no longer a winter issue, and is now occurring in the health service all year round.
Speaking on The Wider View this week, he spoke about the issue and said that looking at the numbers disguises the pain that is felt by patients.
