Following reports of a spike in dog thefts nationwide, The Wider View recently welcomes Laura Reilly from the Cavan SPCA onto the show to talk about how dog owners can keep their pets safe.
Laura, a volunteer with Cavan SPCA, says it vital that dog owners microchip their pets and that it can be very difficult to retrieve a lost or stolen dog if it is not microchipped.
She also spoke to our reporter, Diarmuid Pepper, about how the thieves work and how owners can outsmart them:
