Listen Back: Concerns raised over Garda foot patrols in Co Monaghan. Residents in two County Monaghan towns have expressed serious concerns about a sharp decline in Garda foot patrols; as well as the poor response times to phone calls from the public.
Moreover, Aontú Monaghan Representative, Olivia Larkin, says she has received numerous calls and messages from people across Carrickmacross and Monaghan Town. Voicing their reactions to what she terms is the "noticeable decline in Garda 'feet on the street'; and long, long delays in responding to phone calls".
"It's deeply worrying as we all know that a consistent and visible Garda presence on our streets in Monaghan is crucial for both community safety and confidence and towards combating crime and anti-social behaviour ."
