Leona Maguire has been named an educational ambassador for the Irish American Partnership.

The transatlantic charity provides funding to schools in Ireland to improve the learning opportunities of future generations.

The west-Cavan golfer launched her new role along side the American Ambassador to Ireland by presenting cheques worth €10,000 to her parents Breda and Declan, who are the principals of St Patrick's National School Corlough and St Patrick's National School Castletara.
