PJ O'Hanlon elected as Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Co Co. Fianna Fail's PJ O'Hanlon elected as Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council.
The Carrickmacross representative elected by an unanimous decision by the elected members of Monaghan County Council.
This afternoon, at the local authority's AGM; Cllr O'Hanlon proposed by Cllr Seamus Treanor and seconded by Cllr Raymond Aughey.
Speaking at the meeting, Cllr O'Hanlon said it was a great honour to be elected as the Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council. He looked forward to working with all the councillors for the betterment of the county. Moreover, Cllr O'Hanlon paid tribute to the outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr Paul Gibbons.
Furthermore, Cllr O'Hanlon described Cllr Gibbons as very fair and congratulated him on his time in the chair following the elevation of Cathy Bennett to national politics.
Additionally, Cllr Richard Truel was elected as the Leas-Cathaoirleach of the County Council. Proposed by Cllr Sean Gilliland and seconded by Cllr Aidan Campbell. Cllr O'Hanlon spoke to Ronan Gargan earlier on the Wider View.
