Today is World TB day.  A lot of people will know Tuberculosis as a disease that caused great suffering in Ireland in the days before

Today is World TB day.  A lot of people will know Tuberculosis as a disease that caused great suffering in Ireland in the days before antibiotics, - but it’s still around.

While TB can be completely cured - in 2015 there were around 10.4 million new cases of TB worldwide.

Two new drugs that came out about 3 or 4 years ago are the best treatment we have for TB - and access to these new drugs can literally mean the difference between life and death.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders want Governments to take urgent action to make sure that these drugs are made more widely available - because at the moment only a fraction of people have access to them.

Mark Sherlock is a doctor from Monaghan town.  He is out in Keyna at the moment with Médecins Sans Frontières.
