Repair works at the Annalee View Respite Centre will be concluded by Spring 2021.

Following a Parliamentary Question by Cavan/Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth, the department of health confirmed services in the region are re-opening in the coming months.

The Annalee Respite Centre was forced to close over a year ago after a leak in a fuel transfer line meant remedial works were needed.

In June the HSE confirmed that work had begun and all going according to plan the centre would be ready to open by the end of Quarter 1 of 2021.

Local TD Niamh Smyth has told Shannonside Northern Sound that following a parliamentary question to the Minister for Health it has been confirmed that work on the Annalee View Respite Centre will be completed by the end of March 2021.

The HSE has also confirmed that Steadfast House in Carrickmacross Co. Monaghan has reopened, and Killygowan Respite Centre in Co. Cavan is set to reopen by the end of September in line with public health guidelines.

The HSE apologised for the inconvenience caused to service users and their families in the interim.

In a statement to the news desk Deputy Smyth said these respite centres offer a lifeline to people and it is extremely important for these services to be able to continue.
