The Breffni side are looking to make it back to back promotions

20th June 2021 Cavan camogie were playing in the Division 4 Final against Roscommon which they gained promotion, now 12 months later they are looking at promotion yet again as they have reached the Division 3 Final against Wexford fixed for the 9th April. The Camogs played Dublin on Saturday last in Abbottstown. Dublin who is managed by Cavan’s pervious Manager Jimmy Greville were up for a battle against the Cavan women. Denn’s powerhouse Shanise Fitzsimons got the opening score with a goal from play in just the second minute of the first half and hit the onion bag again with another goal from play in the 3rd minute this was just two of the five goals she was about to score on the day.

Dublin converted a point from a free in the sixth minute of the game. Dublin’s Aoibhe Dillion popped over a point from play in the seventh minute. Aislinn Keenaghan then got her name on the scoring sheet with a point from play. Dublin worked hard as a unit as Chloe O’ Connor and Niamh Comerford got points on the board. Clodagh Keenaghan was accurate with her strikes as she slotted over three points followed by a point from play from Lacken’s Eimear Brady. Dublin got a late goal in the first half to settle them while Clodagh’s precision edged Cavan that bit further before the break.

Cavan only made one substitute at the break with Denn’s Nomonde Majola replacing Laragh’s Eimear Cahill. The second half  seen Cavan come charging from the stalls with points coming from Clodagh Keenaghan in the first and third minute. Dublin’s Chloe O’Connor worked a point from play in the third minute of the second half. Shanise Fitzsimons was yet again to remind Philip why she’s one of the best forward in the county as she got another goal from play in the eleventh minute.  Philip introduced fresh legs replacing Rosie Crowe- McKeever with Lorraine O’Rourke and Aoife Crowe was replaced by Aoife Brady. Cavan’s forward line continued to press as a unit and apply the pressure to the Dublin defence with Kill’s Emer Fitzpatrick and Clodagh Keenaghan Slotting points over the black spot.  After some wise words from Jimmy Dublin started to attack late into the second half with points coming from play from Niamh Comerford and a goal in the twenty fifth minute from Carys Daly. Cavan’s Defence held the fort well only conceding one free in the second half with Dublin scored a point.  Goal Focused Fitzsimons hit the net yet again with another goal while her younger sister Hannah slotted a point over the black spot in the thirty second minute. Shanise finished her day with a final goal in the thirty second minute after Cavan won the puck out.

Cavan now face Wexford in the Division 3 final on the 9th April Venue and Time TBC.
