€33 million for the upgrade and development of 278 Community Centres nationwide has been announced this morning.
Over €700,000 is on its way to Co Monaghan while nearly €1m will be invested across Cavan. The announcement is part of the new Community Centre Investment Fund which will see grants from €25,000 to €300,000 provided to successful projects.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys said local community centers were at the heart of towns, villages and parishes across the region, She added, it was a "priority" for her as Minister for Rural and Community Development to put the funding stream in place in an effort to support communities through the cost of living crisis.
Meanwhile successful projects in Cavan include: Belturbet and District Men's Shed, €25,000; Mullahoran Area Community Centre Association, €25,000; Templeport Resource Centre Development Company Limited by Guarantee,€97,358.96; Swanlinbar Development Association Company Limited By Guarantee, €94,899.48; Ballinagh Community trust, €86,402.50; Drumgoon Community Centre Co-Operative Society Limited, €47,500.00; Bunnoe Community Enterprises CLG, €40,746.76; Castlerahan Community Development Company Limited By Guarantee, €300,000; and Ballyconnell Community Centre, €300,000.
