A planning application has been lodged for a new ATM in Clones town.
Euronet 360 Finance is seeking permission to install an ATM outside Clones Credit Union.
The proposed machine would be facing The Diamond and be close to the Credit Union's main entrance.
There had been calls for more ATM services to be located in the Monaghan town after Bank of Ireland and Ulster removed their machines from Clones when they closed their branches.
A decision on the application is expected next month.
Ciarán Morgan from Lipton's of Clones says it's a positive move for the town.
"We see it in the shop as well; the majority of people paying by card, the majority of older people pay cash," he added.
"There are some businesses in town that still only accept cash.
"There there are other simple things like a taxi - you might be going for a night out and the taxi might only take cash.
"The babysitter might only accept cash too.
"It's things like that where cash is useful."
