Volunteers in Samaritans are ready to support those struggling to cope over the festive season.
A new hub operated by Samaritans officially opened in recent weeks in Monaghan Town.
The newly trained volunteers in Monaghan are answering calls to Samaritans' national freephone helpline, 116 123, which is open 24/7 including Christmas
Day.
They will give an estimated 2,400 hours of listening a year to others from the hub in Monaghan.
The hub will also raise awareness of the suicide prevention charity and deliver outreach activities across the county.
Volunteer Branch Director, Margaret Fahey, says there will be 16 volunteers taking calls for the local service. She says these people will allow people reaching out to know there is always someone there for them.
