Just 22% of women in Cavan and 16% in Monaghan are represented in the local political arena.
On International Women's Day which takes place on the 8th of March next there will be a local focus on the issue to help raise awareness.
Monaghan Women's Assembly is set to host an 'intrerverted' council meeting and women from across the county are invited to attend.
