Almost 450 additional people added to local Live Register last month

Over 700 additional people signed on as unemployed last month in the Shannonside Northern Sound region

Overall, the number of people who signed on the Live Register nationally increased by almost 13,000 last month.

In Cavan, an additional 269 people were on the live register in July compared to may – which followed a 100 person increase between May and June.

In Monaghan, the number of people on the live register increased by 180 in July – growing to a total 2701.

In Leitrim, an additional 52 people signed on last month – bringing the county’s total unemployed figure to 1,839.

The total number of people unemployed in Longford last month was 2670, – a rise of 124 between June and July and in Roscommon 108 people have been added to the live register in the last month – to bring its total to 2291.

Despite the figures monthly showing a very negative trend, year on year in the region, there has been an increase of just 117 additional people unemployed in July of this year, compared to 12 months ago.
