The government will spend €60 million to bring high-speed broadband to the county.

The first connection points under the National Broadband Plan have been made in Co Monaghan.

Over 15,000 premises in the county are included in the plans and National Broadband Ireland says it will deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second Monaghan premises, at a cost of €60 million.

The Chair of NBI, David McCourt, says he's delighted that users in Monaghan will be able to "experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides".
