Retired Cavan garda says decision to raise the recruitment age into the force to 50 years of age “wreaks of desperation”.

The local business has gone from strength to strength since its inception three years ago.

Gardaí are currently dealing with a road traffic accident on the Emyvale Road out of Monaghan.

Those arrested remain in custody at this time.

The Brennan family from Kilcogy Upper has been shortlisted for the award.

The decision is part of efforts to boost Garda numbers.

Supports have been extended for workers until the new year.
