Barry McGuigan to hold local event marking 40 years since world title. The 40th anniversary of Barry McGuigan's world title victory is to be celebrated this year. It's 40 years since the Clones Cyclone took his famous victory at Loftus Road over Eusebio Pedroza, winning the WBA World Featherweight Title. The iconic fight will be celebrated on June 8th with a Gala dinner in the Hillgrove Hotel. Indeed, the full fight will be screened again.
A press launch took place earlier today in relation to the event at the Peace Campus in Monaghan Town. Jodie Curran went along to the event and spoke with Barry McGuigan himself. She began by asking him the importance of coming home to his native County of Monaghan:
