Gerry Black passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23rd 2025, surrounded by his family in the exceptional care of the nurses and staff of the Louth County Hospital Dundalk.
Predeceased by his parents, William and Beatrice; and brother, Roy.
Deeply regretted and remembered with love by his heartbroken family: wife, Mary; sons and daughters: Siobhan (Shay), Michael (Capri), Julieanne (Ben), Paul (Cris), Caroline (Joel), Louise (Paul) and Gerald; his eleven cherished grandchildren, Daniel (Alisha), Ella, Adam, Ian, Mia, Emi-Lu, Ewan, Eve, Ben, Cara and Chloe; his adored great-granddaughter, Demi; brothers, Alan and Colin; sister, Wendy; brothers-in-law, sisters in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Gerry will repose at Wards Funeral Home, Castleblayney (A75NP30), on Friday (St. Stephen’s Day) from 3pm until 7pm. Removal from the funeral home on Saturday morning at 10:45am (proceeding on foot) to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney, for funeral mass at 11am, followed by private cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.
