Hugh (Hughie) Cooney passed away on Saturday, 15th November, 2025. Peacefully surrounded by his heart broken family in Cavan General Hospital.
Predeceased by his parents Frank and Sarah, sister-in-law Bridget and brothers-in-law Mick and Jim.
Always remembered and loved by his sisters Mary, Anna (John Mc Kenna), Theresa, Philomena (Maurice Smyth), Alice, Briege (Ronan Callan), Pauline (Ben Rooney), his brothers Willie, Johnny (Elizabeth), Bernie (Winnie), Christy (Isobel) and Packie (Joanne), his nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbours and everyone who knew and loved him.

Hughie will repose at Clerkins Funeral Home, Milltown, Monaghan (H18YF22) on Monday 17th of November from 5.00pm, concluding with prayers at 8.00pm. Hughie’s funeral procession will arrive to St. Macartan's Cathedral on Tuesday morning (18th) for 11am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Laturcan cemetery. Funeral Mass will be live streamed and can be viewed by clicking the "Funeral Service" button below.
