Remembering many happy, carefree, childhood summer holidays in Blayny at 4 Lake View. My mum, Molly Finnegan, would send us city kids over from London to roam free all day in the Black Island or swimming at the Point or even better up at Harvey's Shore and blackberry picking up at the Castle for pocket money. Uncle Mindzenty was a quiet, learned man who always had the radio on whilst he sat quietly reading. He would let me and my twin sister, Caroline, rummage through his record collection and spin a few tunes on his precious record player. There were two tunes in particular that Uncle Mindzenty intoduced us to, which we then played over and over again without any complaint from Mindzenty thankfully. The two tunes that still resonate with me nearly 50 years later and evoke special memories are Cliff Richard's In the Country and The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel. Sweet dreams Uncle Mindzenty and may the sweet soulful sounds of Felix Grant's saxophone fill the sky over Mindzenty Park and Loch Muchno forever and ever Amen xxx

So very sorry to learn about death of Mindzenty. He was always a quiet person yet he had a great dry wit and had a great knowledge about many things. Finnegan's Island was part of our Lake Vew childhood. One man who never needed a surname. Everyone knew who Mindzenty was. God Rest him
