Listen Back: Significant funding boost for local historical buildings

Significant funding boost for local historical buildings. Almost €500,000 worth of funding, under the Historic Structures Fund, has been announced for Cavan and Monaghan this morning.

Additionally, Local Minister Niamh Smyth welcomed the allocation of €490,763 in funding for four landmark buildings in Cavan and Monaghan. Moreover, the funding announced by Minister for Heritage Christopher O'Sullivan, is part of a €3.5m allocation of money for 28 projects nationwide. Furthermore, the funding is for repairing and protecting landmark buildings.

Indeed, the successful projects in the local area were Castle Saunderson, Cavan (€170,000). Former Railway Goods Shed, Railway Road, Cavan (€70,763). Billis Mills, Watermill by Billis Bridge, Drumollard (€50,000). And St. Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan Town (€200,000).

Chiefly, the fund aims to conserve, protect, and promote the use of historic buildings across our towns and villages. Minister Smyth spoke to Ronan Gargan. The Minister says this funding, for local historical buildings, is a really big boost for the area.
