The GAA could face a loss of €17 million for 2021 according to a report in the Irish independent today.
A recent meeting of county board treasures heard of the monetary projections for the year from members of the Associations finance committee.
Some of those at the meeting expressed the view that the football and hurling leagues could be shelved for this year because of the costs, a move that could be forced upon the GAA if the current Covid 19 trend continues.
At the moment, the Association have put back the return of collective training for senior intercounty panels to the end of this month, with the hope been to see games in the league commence at the end of February.
Any further delays on intercounty panels been able to train collectively would put pressure on fixtures
The GAA intends to make a submission for competition funding to the Government again for 2021 as match-day crowds are expected to be prohibited or severely restricted as the year goes on.
