Plans for a new 112 bed nursing home in Cavan have been approved.
The new purpose built facility is due to be located in Lisdarn just outside Cavan Town. Dublin based Trygve limited applied to construct a fully serviced two storey nursing home in Lisdarn at the end of last year. The site is accessed off the Loreto Road and backs onto the grounds of Cavan General Hospital. Plans lodged with Cavan County Council show the home will contain 112 beds. A design statement lodged with the council states the nursing home has been designed with specific attention to design and care for the elderly, specifically dementia patients and patients with poor mobility. 99 car parking spaces along with an ambulance set down area as well as EV charging spaces are included. A full circulation route is provided around the perimeter of the site for emergency services. The design of the building according to the developers is done in a way to minimise visual impacts on the neighbouring area and to present a simple building aesthetic
A submission lodged by a resident in Drumelis against the development highlights concerns with what they say is a lack of flood planning for the area, and that the application has 'no regard' for traffic levels in the area.
Despite this, county planners granted the application with 23 conditions attached.
